What is this CMS?
…it’s a way for you (or co-workers, with a username and password) to update and maintain your website when and where you want. Once you access the application, you select the web pages you want to update using Tiny MCE word processor, with spell check, where you can add pictures, links, etc. and publish when you are finished. You have the option to preview the web page before you publish or save it to be proofread. It’s that simple…a tutorial is given to the client and included in the package when developing a website using CMS.
Wiki explains it as…A content management system is a software system that provides website authoring, collaboration, and administration tools designed to allow users with little knowledge of web programming languages or markup languages to create and manage website content with relative ease. A robust CMS provides the foundation for collaboration, offering users the ability to manage documents and output for multiple author editing and participation.
Steps when using the CMS.
1 – Login with username and password.
2 – When you enter look for “Pages” link. The only link you need for now is the Pages link. (click on “Pages” link)
3 – Here you see your list of web page names, click one to open. When you open a webpage to edit text it is similar to any word processor with tool bar on top. (If you point to the tool bar icons, you will get a pop-up tip to tell you what this icon is used for. Examples: change font size, color, bold, etc.).
4 – After you edit, click on “PREVIEW ” button on the right of the web page to view before it is saved. When you finish you may click “UPDATE” on the right of the page to finish/publish the web page.
5 – Log out. That’s it. As you get familiar with the process you can add picture, videos, etc.
